Chief Risk Officer
- Higher education in finance, economics, risk management, mathematics or a related field.
- A master’s degree or international certifications such as FRM, CFA or PRM will be a significant advantage.
- At least 10 years of experience in the financial sector, including at least 5 years in risk management and at least 3 years in a managerial position.
- Experience working for a brokerage firm, bank, investment company or another regulated financial institution.
- Practical experience in building, implementing and developing risk management, internal control or related risk governance functions.
- In-depth understanding of financial risks, including market, credit, liquidity and operational risks, as well as compliance risks associated with the Company’s activities.
- Knowledge of Georgian financial regulation, including the requirements of the National Bank of Georgia.
- Understanding of international approaches and best practices in risk management, including MiFID II and the related corporate governance and control standards.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Georgian and/or Russian will be an advantage.
- Building and implementing a Risk Management Framework and elements of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
- Risk identification, assessment, monitoring and escalation.
- Stress testing, scenario analysis and development of practical risk-response measures.
- Application of risk analysis tools, including VaR, sensitivity analysis and exposure measurement, to the extent required for the Company’s business.
- Developing a limit framework and monitoring compliance with established limits.
- Designing and improving internal control systems.
- Understanding of financial instruments and market infrastructure, including Forex, equities, commodities and derivatives.
- Data analysis; advanced Excel skills, with knowledge of Python and SQL considered an advantage.
- Preparing risk reports, policies, procedures and analytical materials for the Board / CEO / Management.
- Effective communication with Management, internal control functions and the regulator.
- Ability to make decisions in an uncertain and rapidly changing market environment.
- Experience in building processes within a developing company or in an environment where a function needs to be created almost from scratch will be an advantage.
- Developing, implementing and further enhancing the Company’s integrated risk management system.
- Establishing and regularly reviewing the Company’s risk appetite and participating in its coordination and approval.
- Classifying and assessing the main categories of risk, including market, credit, liquidity, operational and compliance risks.
- Monitoring key risks across the Company’s principal areas of activity and escalating critical matters in a timely manner.
- Preparing regular and ad hoc risk reports for the Board / CEO / Management.
- Participating in the development of limits, monitoring compliance with them and analysing deviations.
- Conducting stress testing and scenario analysis and assessing the Company’s resilience to adverse events.
- Supporting management decisions with analytical data and risk-based recommendations.
- Participating in the development and improvement of internal control mechanisms and procedures.
- Assessing the risks associated with business processes, new products, changes to the operating model and key external dependencies.
- Participating in business continuity planning (BCP) and preparing incident- and crisis-response plans.
- Collaborating with other control and business functions of the Company on risk management matters.
- Contributing to the development of a risk management culture within the Company, including employee training and the implementation of risk awareness practices.
