Chief Investment Officer
• Higher education in finance, economics, investment management, mathematics or a related field.
• A master’s degree, international certifications such as CFA, FRM or CAIA, or another relevant professional qualification will be a significant advantage.
• At least 10 years of experience in the financial sector, including at least 5 years in investment, trading, portfolio management or financial market analysis and at least 3 years in a managerial position.
• Experience working for a brokerage firm, bank, investment company, asset management company or another regulated financial institution.
• Practical experience in managing an investment, analytical or trading function.
• In-depth understanding of global financial markets and the main asset classes, including equities, fixed income, Forex, commodities, ETFs and derivatives.
• Experience in developing investment strategies, portfolio solutions or professional analytical recommendations.
• Understanding of the principles of discretionary portfolio management, suitability, investment restrictions and trade execution in accordance with a client mandate.
• Knowledge of Georgian financial regulation, including the requirements of the National Bank of Georgia.
• Understanding of international approaches and best practices, including MiFID II, best execution, management of conflicts of interest, rules governing inside information and the prevention of market abuse.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Georgian and/or Russian will be an advantage.
• Developing and implementing the investment strategy within the Company’s licensed areas of activity.
• Managing the Analytical Department and Trading Desk.
• Fundamental, macroeconomic, quantitative and market analysis.
• Developing investment strategies for different asset classes, market scenarios and client profiles.
• Portfolio construction, asset allocation, performance attribution and evaluation of the effectiveness of investment decisions.
• Understanding of financial instrument valuation methods, including equities, bonds, ETFs and derivatives.
• Managing trading processes and understanding market infrastructure, execution venues, liquidity providers, custodians and other market participants.
• Developing investment restrictions and monitoring compliance with them in cooperation with Risk Management and Compliance.
• Assessing market, credit, liquidity and concentration risks within the investment and trading function.
• Preparing investment and analytical reports for the Board / CEO / Management.
• Data analysis; advanced Excel skills, with knowledge of Bloomberg, Refinitiv, CQG, Python and SQL considered an advantage.
• Ability to make well-founded decisions in an environment of high volatility, uncertainty and rapidly changing market conditions.
• Effective collaboration with Risk Management, Compliance, Operations, Sales, IT and other departments of the Company.
• Ability to explain complex investment ideas in clear and professional language.
• Experience in building an investment, analytical or trading function within a developing company will be an advantage.
• Developing and implementing Rioni Capital’s investment business strategy.
• Managing the Analytical Department, including macroeconomic analysis, financial market analysis, bonds and fixed income instruments.
• Managing the Trading Desk, including Currency, Fixed Income, Derivatives and Equities.
• Organising the preparation of analytical reviews, investment research, market commentary and other professional materials of the Company.
• Ensuring the quality, objectivity and methodological consistency of analytical materials.
• Developing investment strategies and asset allocation models based on client objectives, investment horizon, risk profile and established restrictions.
• Participating in the development of the discretionary portfolio management service and the establishment of the investment process within client mandates.
• Coordinating the development of new investment products and services in cooperation with Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Sales and IT.
• Organising the work of the Trading Desk and monitoring the quality of trade execution in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
• Participating in the selection of markets, financial instruments, trading venues, liquidity providers and other market infrastructure participants.
• Ensuring compliance with investment restrictions and the timely escalation of material deviations.
• Collaborating with the CRO on establishing limits, assessing market risks, conducting stress testing and analysing adverse scenarios.
• Collaborating with Compliance on conflicts of interest, investment recommendations, inside information, personal account dealing and market conduct.
• Presenting investment and analytical materials for consideration by the Board / CEO / Management and relevant committees.
• Establishing standards for investment decision-making and developing a culture of professional responsibility within the investment function.
• Participating in the recruitment, training and professional development of employees of the Analytical Department and Trading Desk.
