Lion Finance Leads the Week on the LSE with an 8.6% Gain

Following the broad-based gains recorded the previous week, trading in Georgian-related companies listed on the London Stock Exchange became more selective. During the 10–14 August 2026 trading week, Lion Finance Group continued its strong advance, Georgia Capital maintained positive momentum, while TBC Bank Group shares ended the period broadly unchanged.

The strongest performance once again came from Lion Finance Group (BGEO). The group’s shares increased from £124.40 to £135.10, gaining 8.60% over the week. On Friday, the stock reached £136.20, marking a new 52-week high. The strongest move occurred during the second half of the week, with the shares gaining more than 5% on Thursday alone.

The share price performance coincided with Lion Finance Group’s second-quarter and first-half results. Consolidated profit reached GEL 618.8 million in the second quarter, increasing by 20.6% year on year, while first-half profit amounted to GEL 1.204 billion, up 17.3% compared with the previous year. Return on average equity (ROAE) for the first half stood at 27.2%. The group also announced a second-quarter dividend of GEL 3.05 per share and expanded its share buyback programme by an additional GEL 59 million.

Georgia Capital (CGEO) continued to move higher, although at a more moderate pace. Shares of the investment group rose from £44.00 to £44.85, gaining 1.93% during the week. Trading remained relatively stable, with the stock moving within a range of approximately £43.30–£45.40 before recovering from early-week weakness.

At the end of the week, Georgia Capital announced the launch of a new USD 50 million share buyback and cancellation programme. This represents the first stage of a broader capital allocation programme of up to GEL 1 billion through 2029, which may include share buybacks, potential dividends and further investments into the group’s businesses in Georgia and Armenia.

A different picture emerged for TBC Bank Group (TBCG). The shares closed the week at £49.32, compared with £49.36 the previous Friday, representing a marginal change of −0.08%. During the week, the stock traded between £47.90 and £50.45, but ultimately returned close to its previous level.

TBCG’s performance also reflected the impact of its dividend schedule. On 13 August, the shares traded ex-dividend for the first-quarter 2026 dividend of GEL 1.75 per share, with the record date set for 14 August. Therefore, the nearly unchanged weekly performance should be viewed in the context of the dividend adjustment.

Overall, after the broad market gains of the previous week, investors shifted towards a more selective assessment of individual companies. Lion Finance Group became the clear weekly leader, supported by strong first-half results and additional capital return measures. Georgia Capital maintained its positive momentum and launched a new buyback programme, while TBC Bank Group ended the week largely unchanged.

Weekly performance is calculated based on closing prices on 7 and 14 August 2026. Share prices are stated in pounds sterling.
